clairton forest: is magic at it's thickest, is the rumble of wind where it cuts through the leaves, is the edge of a foggy bank and damp whispers in your ear. it is looking up at the endless grey sky and feeling the hair at the back of your neck stand in quiet static, is a sense of longing for a place that does not exist. it is a small secret of time, ancient and powerful and lonely and it is a place of death, death and then rebirth.
the dig: is not a place. it is a being, a brain and an era; it is not a home and it never will be but it is a safe refuge and till time comes to an end, it will continue to be so. life quivers before it and only the dead can see it, the palm trees are crooked and the jakartas aren't really from here. it is a mix of concrete and a few spells, dry and empty. nothing really lives here. nothing really stays.
#55: at night, there are a lot of sounds. the forest is alive and moving and churning and the coyotes are howling while the deers are screaming. trains are rattling in the distance and the sky is an awful blue splattered with silver. you're on your bed, cupping both your palms into tiny fists on either sides of you to resist the wailing of the world. it's scary but it's home and a home will always be a home will always be a home.
clair's tale: centuries of stories are laid bare here where machines are always beeping and life never seems to leave. the faces are all the same but you don't recognize them, yet they waitress makes sure you know she knows you and the cashier greets you with an intimate smile like you've known each other for years. the ice cream is melting. time is melting. the streetlights are melting. the concrete is melting. seconds are days are moments between the tip of your fingers gliding on the plywood and the sharp exhale of breath leaving your mouth.
