“just as i can hear things that no one else can,“ he finally added, turning his head to face the man. “i am professor charles xavier, it’s very good to meet you and thank you for lending your aid to our people and our home, we are indebted - even if erik will not admit it for himself.“

“norman osborn’s son,“ nick stepped from the shadows, a sly smile on his lips as he assessed the boy. “fancy seeing you out in the streets of new york and running around like a chicken with its head cut off.” he laughed a little, shaking his head and then holding out a hand, “it’s good to finally put a face to the collective file we have going on for your father, harry.”

nick paused and then waited, “you out here helping spider-man?” he knew, of course, that harry was nothing like his father - a much better person and a good friend of peter parker’s. but given how nick had practically seen the entirety of peter and his friends running around, he wasn’t at all surprised to find harry too. “need help?”

charles was quite familiar with the personality and exuberant way that emma frost simply was. there was never any avoiding her, and even if she hadn’t been a telepath, charles would have known her. he smiled to himself, knowing that this would be a particularly interesting conversation. i can sense you on the island, my dear. you have returned, it’s good to know that you’re back.

he attempted to avoid asking any personal questions towards her, hoping she’d seek him out and speak with him face-to-face. emma was, after all, a professional when it came to dealing with the hard tasks of life - though it was not unlike the rest of the population of mutant kind. you can find me seated where erik’s statue once stood, i will wait for you there.

it wasn’t hard for nick to spot a civilian in trouble - he’d been doing it all day while trying to spread recon across the city. except this particular civilian, he knew. rushing towards her, his gun aimed high, nick shot off a few rounds at the incoming inmates that were targeting the red-headed girl. “woman, get the hell out of here!” he yelled, practically taking her arm and dragging her off behind him,

once he was able to get her in a safer area, he let her go and gave her a look over. “you okay? or do you wanna go back out there with that half broken bat and swing at some more heads?” he raised a brow and blinked, “because i don’t know about you, but i’m getting pretty tired of this shit already.”

for only it to be torn away from him in a mad rush of politics and natural disaster. smiling, he approached lorna with care - not entirely able to read her mind, but fully able to get the sense that she was unwell. holding out his hand to her, charles gave her a softened nod. “it’s quite alright, lorna - i’m here to help - show me what is harming you, child.”
