Where Did You Go? || Self Para
When Selena came around, there was a strange taste in her mouth and a thumping at the back of her mind, heavy eyelids fighting to open. What the hell? The man from before - what was his name? Diego? - was standing before her, wearing a casual pair of pants and a black jacket; the kind of clothes a man wanted to wear when he tried to hide himself in the crowd. Right, he was a drug dealer, after all. Blurry images of her wandering down the streets of Buenos Aires, searching for the guy who was now looking down at her, not batting an eyelid, came back to her mind. And although she already expected it, the twist of her hands confirmed to her that she was, indeed, tied to a wooden chair. Her still sleepy eyes swept the room quickly, not being able to make out much. The room was full of shadows save for one yellow bulb that was hanging limply down the ceiling, casting a spotlight over the pair of them. Selena swallowed nervously, trying to calm her steadily racing heartbeat. “What do you want with me?”
Usually, the latina wouldn’t dare to walk through the streets of a city she didn’t know her way around at 2am. Especially not on her own. But tonight was different. She was in desperate need to take her mind off of things again, and luckily for her, the cute guy she had met at the club had told her about Diego; a local drug dealer, who sold good stuff for a solid price. Which was why she now found herself outside of the El Caminito area, looking for the alley the guy had described where she’d find this Diego. The clicking of her heels filled the quiet, empty street, the street lights not being much of help. It was dark as hell. If Selena would’ve been sober, her surrounding would’ve creeped her out, but all she could think about were the happy little pills she was gonna hold in her petite hands soon. Hopefully.
“Are you Diego?” she asked the second she spotted a tall, mysterious man leaning with his back against the wall in the shadow of a dark alley. “Who wants to know?” His voice was low, almost intimidating. Selena cleared her throat and took a step forward, trying to make out his face in the dim light. “A friend of mine told me I would find you here. He said you sell the best stuff, so, uh, I’d like to buy some speed. Or ecstasy. I don’t mind which one, I-” He cut her off with a loud laugh, finally stepping out of the shadow. The first thing she noticed was the long, jagged scar that was running from his temple to his upper lip. Okay, he definitely was intimidating now. For a quick second, she considered to just turn around and walk away. But then again, Selena really wanted those pills. She needed them. “Sweetheart, you’re way too pretty to buy drugs.” His spanish accent was thick in the words that were coming out of his mouth. “Hasn’t your mom told you that this part of the city is very, very dangerous?” Even if she wanted to, she would never be able to overpower him. He was at least 6 feet tall and bigger than all of her bodyguards combined. “Look, I just want to buy some drugs, that’s all,” she tried it again, the tone of her voice almost harsh. She was too focused on getting the pills to notice a second tall man coming up behind her. Within a matter of a few seconds, he grabbed her, causing a loud scream to escape her throat. Her heart started racing and she was unable to breathe, as she tried to get out of the other man’s grip. She was not gonna go down without a fight. Tears started rolling down her cheeks at the sheer fear and she started biting the man like a caged animal. Her entire body flushed with adrenaline. But he just strengthened his grip, making it impossible for her to even move a single inch. She tried to scream for help, but there was no sound coming out of her mouth. “Shhh, no one’s going to hear you anyway,” was the last thing she heard, before everything went black.
The shock was slowly wearing off and the panic started to creep in. The fear was evidently showing in Selena’s widened eyes, as she observed his calm movements, the look in his eyes calculated and professional, hell, almost lethal. “If it’s money you want, you can have it. Any price you name,” she tried to assure him. The silence was slowly killing her, she just wanted to know what the hell was going on. A sardonically smirk was plastered onto his lips at her words, causing a shiver to run down her spine. “It’s not your money I want, Miss Gomez.” Well, what else could he possibly want? And why did he kidnap her in the first place? “Look, I promise I’m not going to tell a single soul that any of this happened, just please let me go,” she begged in defeat, feeling a sense of nausea creeping up on her that she didn’t have the heart to attempt to shake. Instead of saying something, he simply untied her hands and pulled her up from the chair to drag her forcefully through what seemed like an abandoned warehouse. “Please let me go,” Selena cried out, the grip on her hands so tight that it hurt. She roamed the place with watery eyes, trying to spot an unlocked door or window that she could escape out of, but there was nothing. Diego abruptly stopped in front of a locked door, one hand fumbling with the lock, which was giving her the opportunity to put up a fight again, but she was too weak and too tired to even consider freeing her hands. There seemed to be no way out of this building anyway, it was pointless. Opening the door, he pushed her down onto the cold, hard floor, as she sucked in a breath at the sudden pain. Standing above her, he chuckled lightly when she made no attempt to get up and fight him. “Fernando is going to bring you some food and something to drink if you’re being a good girl,” he stated, before he left the small room and locked the door behind him, leaving her alone in the dark. Slowly, but surely, she came to the realization that she was most likely not gonna get out of here alive.
