a perfect pair: lily + frank [1.11.78]
Lily was making her way back up to the castle from Hogsmeade, glad to have worn her boots to avoid the puddles of November rain, when Gladrags and Ghouls caught her. She stopped short in the middle of street. Displayed in the window were a pair of socks, black save for the cheerful bright orange pumpkins that patterned them. The jack-o’-lantens grinned at her, inviting her to come in and take advantage of the generous discount the socks were being allotted for being sold after Halloween. James’ celebration of the holiday had been turned on its head when he ended up with a broken nose and she found herself wondering if the campy bit of knitwear wouldn’t cheer him up a bit.
Lost in her own thoughts in the middle of the street, she was caught off-guard as a passerby knocked into her, spilling her newly purchased parchment onto the ground. “Oh, bugger,” Lily cursed, scrambling to salvage the already soiled paper from the surrounding puddles.
