"Hey. The other night was probably the closest thing I've had to a date, which makes you the closest thing I have to a Valentine. Here," she offers a small box, wrapped in the morning's newspaper. Inside, he will find a sea star, encased in a sphere of teal glass. "I found it at Mr. Gold's creepy shop. He's a real thrill to chat with isn't he? Go on, open it."

A thrill, indeed.
“You don’t know the half of it,” Killian managed a chuckle before grimacing. There was just something about that shopkeeper that the sheriff wasn’t entirely fond of... Something that went beyond Gold’s creepy demeanour, but he wasn’t entirely sure what it was.
Hawke’s presence was a welcome surprise, however. And the thought behind it even more so.
Killian cracked a smile, the edges slowly tugging further upwards. This was mighty kind of her. “I... Thank you. You didn’t have to, though.”
