“How did you get these bruises!? Please don’t lie to me!" Chie was frantic, gently touching at the bruises, gripping Yukiko's shoulders, and otherwise fretting over her. She was tense, and shaking slightly from anger, assuming that someone had hurt her dear friend

“Chie... Chie, calm down, it’s alright. It was my fault. I was reorganizing some boxes in a spare room at the inn, and they tipped on top of me. That’s where I got the bruises. But... thank you for worrying about me...”

Rise and Yukiko became very fast friends during the year they spent with their group; if not for Chie’s ever-present position there, Rise could’ve easily become Yukiko’s best friend. As it is, they still talk regularly - even when Rise is out of town.Both of them have a tendency to vent about their respective stresses, while the other listens. They also share gossip about their respective places; Rise wants to know what’s going on in Inaba, while Yukiko takes advantage of Rise’s first-hand knowledge of the Tokyo entertainment business to get a leg up on the competition.

Aside from that, though… they also talk about their non-existent love lives. Rise is an idol, and so aside from flirting, she can’t really do much; Yukiko has the inn’s reputation to think about, plus there are very few people who meet her standards. Recently, Yukiko’s loneliness has led her to look forward to Rise’s calls with an intensity she doesn’t quite understand…

Without really planning anything, Chie and Yukiko recently spent a rather romantic evening on the banks of the Samegawa, watching the stars. Yukiko cuddled up a bit to Chie, one thing led to another… and the two ended up confessing to each other, even sharing a few tentative first kisses.

However - Chie truly doesn’t not believe herself worthy of Yukiko. Not yet. So in spite of her own wishes, Yukiko has agreed to let them just stay friends for now… until Chie is ready for her.

Just because she’s agreed, though, doesn’t mean Yukiko has given up. She doesn’t think Chie needs to be any stronger or more self-confident to be her girlfriend… and she intends to prove it to Chie personally, by whatever means she can come up with. Let the awkward seduction begin!

Saturday Night Movie Marathon

“There. I think everything is ready.”

Yukiko surveyed her room. With Chie often staying over, Yukiko had long ago put in a taller-than-normal frame for her futon - tall enough that she could slide another futon underneath for Chie’s use. The floor was spotless and the spare futon was already made up, though mostly tucked underneath. On her end table, replacing the lamp and clock that were usually there, there were two large bowls of popcorn and two glasses for drinks, along with a couple of bottles of lemonade and chilled green tea. The TV was already on, though the volume was low; it was only commercials playing right now.

“Yes, everything looks just right! Now all I need is Chie.”

Yukiko busied herself reviewing the list of movies to be shown tonight, waiting for Chie to arrive. She was kind of glad that Chie hadn’t asked what sort of movie marathon was playing; they were all Chinese dubs, and while the first couple were wuxia flicks of the sort that Chie would enjoy, the movies in the second half of the marathon were more Yukiko’s speed - ghosts, zombies, vampires, and other manifestations of horror. There was still some fighting, but mainly there was more running.
