i took german as my foreign language credit so i could graduate and my mom told me it would never be useful.... the SPEED at which i can read critical role fanfiction because i don’t have to translate as well as knowing everything caleb says and also not needing to pull out google translate when writing him. it has very much come in handy.

Critical Role is fun to watch, and I’m only on Ep 29, but I hope there’s some positive fat characters soon because I’m getting bored and tired of hearing Mercer describe two big villains as “corpulent” and the way their “blubber” moves when they’re hit with attacks.

My personal, untagged post re: descriptors of villainous fat people in CR with the addendum from someone that Pumat Sol exists is still being reblogged, and besides feeling disappointed that folks feel better reblogging someone correcting me rather than taking a moment to reflect on my personal critique, or adding an addendum to it that having fat adventurers is not realistic, is how disappointing it is to continue to hear mostly negative portrayals of fat characters in this universe

because I’ve heard the word “rotund” two more times now and one was a crabby barkeep and the other was, again, a villain the gang is now fighting

and in that I think there’s a testament to how insidiously woven fatphobia is into our everyday thought processes that we don’t notice it until we look for it

My sincere recommendation if you want to start S1 is to skip to the Whitestone arc. That's when the narrative really picks up and a real troublesome person leaves the table permanently.

Oooo would you happen to know which episode that arc starts on, offhand? If not I can Google it. Is this troublesome person like... just a boring/mean player or did they do something nasty? I’m not up on any CR drama.
