ℰllis' drive to become a nurse was by no means a sudden change, something new that came to mind after being part of the genetics program.
Since Jake was diagnosed with a rare heart disease, she'd been studying every book, every pamphlet, every magazine article on the human body. Skeletal structure, cardiovascular system, cells, veins, nerves, anything you can name she's read up on it.
She can name every bone in your body in alphabetical order and can recite the functions of every organ backwards.
Elliot used to pride herself in it, and now she still does, but for a vastly different reason. Before, she thought it as a stepping stone, a way to better understand how to save her brother. With her waking up so much later, far past his life span even if he had been cured, she now prides herself merely on knowing the information, rather than any actual application of it. Ellis finds no real reason to use her knowledge now, not when the one she learned it for is long since gone.
That isn't to say she won't, but it will have to be for more than just kindness of the heart.
She cares about people, but not enough to save them. Not when they didn't care enough to save her.
