send a 👫 and i’ll write four headcanons i have about our muse’s relationship:

emily @holyemu

everything she knows about video games, she learned because of her love for emily. she always has her friend's streams on, even if it's just playing on her phone when she's doing other tasks. she's well known in the chat for gifting subscriptions to people on a whim with the username emuing. this doesn't mean that she's an expert by any means, in fact she still doesn't even own anything other than a switch, much to emily's disappointment.

when emily got the job at google, ingrid wanted to throw a huge party for her friend to celebrate the achievement. but, she settled for a dinner at carroll's best restaurant where they ordered everything on the menu and drank too much champagne while giggling about big girl jobs.

in high school, ingrid got them matching best friend necklaces, the tiffany note silver pendants to be specific. she thought the gesture would be just another thing that cheered her friend up from the trials of school. her's has the initial e, and emily's has the initial i. she can often be spotted wearing hers so that she's always keeping her friend close.

she's actually pretty oblivious to emily and nathan's romantic overtures. she can't really pick up on that type of flirting, and just assumes the two are really close friends like she and em are. she will be very surprised to hear about what happened on new year's eve, and what happened in the hospital parking lot.

ingrid has never once asked joel about his family drama. she has no interest in trying to trace lineages or meet family members outside of her friendship with him. people are important to her if they're important to joel, and that's that. of course, she gets along just fine when he brings her to family events. she's a great buffer, and can make small talk, but at the end of the night she always knows where her loyalty lies.

they're always each other's date to award shows. one of them is always on an invite list for the oscars or what have you, thanks to nepotism. while in her earlier years, she always just went with her father, those days are over. now she gets to sit at a table with her best friend and make jokes, the shows go by a lot quicker. and the photos look a little bit better, or at least they get published in listicles a lot more often.

while they were at an underground show in los angeles, the place got busted by cops. house lights went up, music cut off. it was the closest ingrid has ever gotten to being in trouble. but joel grabbed her hand and they ran so fast that she thought her lungs were going to burst. safe to say, they got away from the arresting officers. the next week, there was another show and they decided to test their luck again. they've never had a run-in with the law since, and still laugh about it to this day with each other.

she named a binary star after him on a whim one day, saying that it was so that they never had to worry about people walking on them, or having to put their hands in cement. it was the only time she's ever acknowledged the pressure that's on them as the children of such famous families.

Mateo isn’t even entirely sure what happened. The last thing he remembers seeing was Emily going to take a swing at the new girl she suddenly had a disliking for. He’d stepped in, tried to get them to stop without really thinking about his own safety, and he ended up with an elbow to the face. He had been dragged to his feet by a teacher who had asked him if he was okay but really all he could sense was the taste of iron in his mouth and the smell of it in his nose. 

A little dazed and vowing internally to himself never to get involved with a fight between Emily and anyone every again, he was escorted to the schools nurse along with Emily and her new target of the month. Mateo wasn’t really a fan of Emily. She had a bitter tongue filled with harsh words and racist comments. He wasn’t even sure Emily knew that Mateo was mixed. And he wasn’t about to tell her any time soon either, lest he be her new favourite target like Ella Reyez was.

He let her go first, mostly because the faster Emily was looked over and escorted to the office the easier he could breathe. Sitting there with a gym towel pressed to his nose and mouth, Mateo’s eyes slide over to the girl sitting next to him. He’s almost ashamed to admit he doesn’t know her name. Licking his lips all he tastes is blood and his expression scrunches up at that. 

He spits into the dry end of the towel, a collection of spit and blood landing there neatly. With Emily in the school nurse’s private office, it left just the two of them awkwardly sitting there. He doesn’t even realize that the elbow to the face had been from the new girl. He had just assumed Emily had knocked him out when he tried to get her to stop fighting.
