26. Have you ever had to change your OC’s design or something else about them against your will?Hmm! This is tough. As far as I can remember, no? I’ve changed a lot of things about Artemis and Flanngo’s design over the years, but I can’t say any of it was against my will? Some of it was experimental, like with some personality and backstory stuff, but i’ve always made changes which I consider were for the better in the long run! And I haven’t regretted any of them. The only thing that might maybe come close is Ash? He’s a reinterpretation of another character by someone else (who didn’t want him anymore). I made a lot of changes when “I took him in” but none of it was against my will. The only thing my Ash has in common with the other past character is their name (sort of, my “Ash” is just a nickname cause his full first name is Ashwen)…and some small similarities in character dynamics with Artemis, which I developed their relationship a lot more and took it in a different direction. In short, the common things now between them are “Is named Ash” and “Is friends with Artemis.”. XDThough I can say the other person’s Ash was much more mean/teasing/etc to Art and I toned this way down, but drew on a few elements from that dynamic….though in a more “friend tease” kind of way and not straight up cruel. I didn’t want that to be an aspect of their relationship.43. Do you have any certain type when you create your OCs? Do you tend to favour some certain traits or looks? It’s time to confess.Ohh boy, yes. I definitely favour certain traits, but I try to mix it up so characters don’t get too similar in both design and personality.Physical Stuff:- Scarves, oh my god I love long scarves. Especially if they can cover the mouth or have any bandana-esc elements to them.- Really fancy ornate/detailed coats, though surprisingly none of my characters have this! I love seeing it though. Bonus points for coats with length/coat tails cause dannggg I like that.- Ponchos with the neck thing that comes up like a collar. Sadly I only have two characters who wear ponchos but I love it.- Wings, feathery! Black and gray are best.- Tails, reptile-like ones (like a big wide crocodile tail) or super long + poofy ones, or long curly/twisty snake ones!- Poof? In general, neck fluffs and hair fluffs and just a lot of volume. Yes. (Long hair on guy characters too). Or anything resembling like a big bird crest of feathers.- Big horns, those crazy curled ones, cool shapes, etc.- Star patterns, glowing things.- Extra eyes. 8)- Over-bite or under-bite fangs. Super nice on big monster characters.- TBH anything with bird/reptile elements to it.- Simple designs and stuff that doesn’t get cluttered with markings/gradients/detail. x-xPersonality Stuff:- Humour! Ahhah, sooo many different types that I like. I don’t really enjoy having a character’s role just be the “joker of the group” but I like it when characters can have their moments and make a joke in good conversation. Like everyone has a funny moment here and there. Though certain types of humour I dislike, I enjoy….puns, that thing where the situation is set up with hilarious dynamics (think Mr. Bean stuff)….some types of slapstick (bit iffy on some of it though), expression humour (? I dunno what it’s called but think Modern Family/The Office when they give those looks to the camera and it JUST EMBODIES what the character is feeling). But yeah, I really like humour that involves expression and situations as opposed to just pure word humour. Get a balance of both though, but don’t make a character just a “catchphrase machine”.- “Animalistic traits” in expressions/mannerisms like growls, teeth barring, certain types of movement, etc.- Loyalty and anything that’s like fiercely protective- Certain types/levels of aggression (like “stands up for self/others/etc”?) but it’s also really easy to take this too far and have that become the main characteristic of the character. :/ I dunno, just, make sure there are reasons/clear motivations behind it.- Mysterious, and sometimes that thing where you’re not really sure whether a character is good or bad! (and if the character themself doesn’t know/is conflicted too then hell yeah.) Also good if they switch sides multiple times.- That thing where characters genuinely believe in their (wrong) actions and they think they’re doing good. 8)- And, the sin, characters with egos who do ridiculous things.
