The smoke settles to reveal KIM HAECHUL, a 34 year old comedy and tragedy-aligned fae of Sunseong. He is a comedian and street magician who appears to be adept in illusion magic – but like most things in Sunseong, there seems to be more to he than meets the eye.
FACECLAIM: Kim Heechul, super junior
APPEARANCE:
If you can imagine Heechul you’ve got a pretty good idea of what the naked eye would see. As he is a fae there has to be something inhuman about him, and for Haechul it’s his eyes. Some days they are hollow black and empty, others his irises are shaped like hearts or stars. It’s always his eyes though, and to hide that fact, he always wears sunglasses.
As for his true form, you’re in for a doozy guys. He likes to joke about what his true form is to those who can’t see it. He will point at a childs toy and say that his true form looks like that, or he will point at his anime bodypillow (true to Haechul) and say that is his true form.
In reality he is a swarm of locusts. Now those with true-sight will see it differently depending on what Haechul decides to package himself in, it might be an anime bodypillow full of locusts, or a swarm of locusts with the comedy/tragedy mask. Could be a cardboard box full of locusts, or a very angrily humming swarm.
BIOGRAPHY:
Alright so there was a comedy club called Blazing Hot Comedy. It was very popular. You could say, on fire. It was located in a small building in a deep corner of Sunseong. The owner of the club was young and promising, with a passion of all forms of comedy and entertainment. He worked hard to create this club and eventually it actually did end up on fire. An arsonist lit the Comedy club up, and it burned to the ground with very few managing to make it out. With all of the buzz around this particular area, the innate magic in the area created something new. This final event gave it the final push and twist. With the deaths and tragedy surrounding the comedy club a new fae was brought into the world. To the people who tried to put out the fire, it looked like the young owner had survived. The new fae looked like him. Haechul took the name of the man he was confused for and used it. He had no other way to refer to himself, so why not? With no ideas of why he was created or how he was created, Haechul was thrust into the world.
He had access to all of the human Kim Haechul’s bank information and tax records, as he was mistaken for him. Faechul took this opportunity and feigned amnesia, rebuilding the comedy club and naming it Salem Comedy club. Every time he refers to it from here on will be by a different fire pun. After a couple of months running and performing at Burning Man Comedy Club, the arsonist who “originally burned it down “ decided they didn’t like the place and it went up in flames again. Afterwards, Haechul had what the humans around him referred to as a “midlife crisis”. In reality, Haechul didn’t like being tied down to a location and wanted to get rid of the club and thought it would be funny and ironic if it went out in the same way he came in, hot and screaming.
From then on, Haechul still liked being a funnyman, and wandered the streets of sunseong as a street performer and comedian. His identity as a fae isn’t well known to those who aren’t supernatural, but those who do know get really tired of his fae jokes. He just kinda bums around and harasses people with his funny jokes and street magic that is powered by fae illusions.
CHARACTERIZATION:
- He thinks he is a funnyman and will make jokes in any situation. Even sensitive situations, like a family pet passing away, or a were-mauling in the vicinity, will get a rather insensitive joke.
-As previously mentioned, he consistently jokes about his true form. His only technological prowess is a tumblr blog filled with photos and memes that are tagged with “IT ME.”
-The tragedy aspect of his fae-ness comes through in results of his illusions and jokes. He can take a joke too far and end up causing horrible trauma to humans or non-fae in the vicinity. He legitimately thinks it is funny still.
-He doesn’t lie, as most fae don’t. His jokes may seem misleading in some contexts but all comedy has a grain of truth in it.
-In rare occasions one might see that his jokes mask a seething self-hatred and confusion about who he is and who he is supposed to be.
-If you don’t find his jokes funny, he will be very offended. Also he will be offended at candy coated insects, particularly locusts. Something about that feels wrong to this fae that is a sack of locusts.
-His mtbi is ENTP.
-He is very much a people person and will be at the center of parties. He loves interacting with people and is very very not good at being alone.
-He is a turbulent person, and interacting with him is like talking to a whirlwind.
-He does enjoy going drinking with his friends, though he doesn’t really feel the effects of normal alcohol. If he does manage to become inebriated he is the type to strip on a table.
-He is aromantic and asexual. He is not interested in having sex, or in very deep meaningful relationships.
-He seems like the type to trust easily, but he doesn’t really trust people deeply.
SPECIALTIES:
RANK 3 ILLUSION (80 Points)
With his practice in street magic and illusions, he has become very good at creating illusions of objects and even people.
Generally he will use his illusions for magician/street magic things, but also uses them to nope out of situations he doesn’t want to be in.
Haechul has to expend considerably more effort to make illusions that effect the sense of taste specifically.
The larger the illusions, the less ‘real’ they end up feeling. Haechul is adept at illusions, but creating things the size of buildings takes quite a bit more effort, and have less of a chance of being convincing.
His illusions are limited by what he can visualize in his head. So if he tries to make a unicorn and he has never seen a unicorn, it will be his specific imagining of a unicorn. If he tries to make a building juggle, he has never seen a building juggle and thus will have a very hard time doing so.

Greater Illusion- This is his ability to show himself off in a humanoid form. The thing that non-fae and non-truesight entities would see.
Magic Sensing- The ability to say “Hey that’s a Fae.”
Healing- Accelerated healing.
Size Manipulation- Can change size.
Contract Binding on Solemn Oath- Promises act as a sealed deal.
Minor Laughter and Sadness Inducement- As a side effect of his alignment, he can slighly manipulate emotions.
Faestrike- This is the ability of a fae to cause obsession in non fae. This is passive and not easy to do on purpose. Haechul doesn’t really like to use this, but it is a thing he can do.
