Limit Break; I just want to let you all know that you’ll probably see a significant shift in the way I play Quistis. For years, I was a bit more tame about her development because people who would approach me to RP were often expecting an in-game Quistis experience. However, my default verse takes place well after the end of the game and there hadn’t been a big enough change in my opinion. I am always happy to write in an in-game verse (even in AUs) if requested.
Quistis is a selfish person, but a pushover. She is moody and impulsive and can be kind of a jerk. At the same time, she cares about what people think of her TO A FAULT. She tries to be what people expect her to be instead of being genuine. So, she holds back to keep others from being uncomfortable around her. She wants people to open up to her and feel like they can approach her with anything. And yes, she does genuinely care to an extent (some of it may be performative to get something she wants).
The way I will write her from here on out in my default verse will be focusing more on her becoming bold and stop trying so hard to please people. She is who she is and if people don’t like it, it’s not her problem. She’s done holding herself back to let others shine, especially since she knows she’s capable as hell of doing things on her own. The desire to Make Friends has hindered her growth in her career. She may try to ‘help’ people, but she’s not going to shoot her own foot to do it. If she needs to move on, she will.
Although it seems like a mostly negative development, it IS an improvement. There are so many instances in the game where Quistis COULD HAVE stepped up and taken charge of a situation but didn’t (because of bad writing, tbh, I mean she was the TEACHER and let her STUDENT do everything what the actual fuck WHY) so that’s not happening anymore. She’s not waiting for people to prove themselves around her. It’s time they keep up.
