Since her first visit to Sombra Muerte, Anise had gone back time and time again. It wasn’t so much for the stock of the store. Or rather, it was, but not for the usual reason. Zico carried quite the array of plant and fungus samples, but besides fungus and plant, Anise collected something else: facts, stories, information. And the owner of the shop sure knew how to tell a story. If she didn’t know any better, she would have thought that everything in the entire shop had a story as to how it ended up there. If it didn’t, Zico could probably make one up.
It was with a shred of disappointment that Anise arrived at the store to find that Zico was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps the god had taken a day off, Anise thought to herself. Do gods take days off? Do they take vacations? Anise could only assume so, as that seemed to be the current case. How annoying. She would have to amuse herself this time, go about guessing at things based on their name tags, if they had one. Or maybe she could pick up a new strange book. Sombra Muerte seemed to have more of those than even The Lion’s Den.
With this thought in mind, Anise went up to the front of the shop to look for whatever employee was working that day. To her surprise, Anise came upon a new face. “Um, excuse me, you guys got any new books lately? Or, like, other weird stuff?”
