Always thought that people were focused on XQC being that spotless victim because of sexual assault. The moment a character is subjected to this, they become this poor uwu character who can do no wrong because victim. I saw that in Killing Stalking too, where a lot of people quickly forgot that the main character was no above any reproach, quite the opposite. Murder? Pretty okay. But sexual assault? Seems to nulify every critical thinking for fiction in some people brain.
I also think so. I do get the feeling a lot of people in fandom who are women and were "raised" by the idea that sexual assault can be the WORST thing that can happen to them, even worse than death itself, do use it as an excuse to mischaracterize arcs . Especially for Meatbun shous, which is a DISASTER because Meatbun NEVER writers spotless , goody two shous and its important for the plot that one acknowledge them as such.
Its because of not acknowledging that we get shitty takes on them such as the time when in twitter, I got a follower arguing with me that Moran 1.0 is an asshole for hating CWN because he is totally justified in beating his students especially him, and being unapologetically cruel whenever his temper gets the best of him. Since he must be doing it for their own good.

Only then we find out he had no problem helping another mentally ill teenager free of cost, free of complain all this while aka Chen Man. CM was also not even fatally ill! so why did he lied about the bad mental state of Heyu, encouraged his sister to not form true friendship with him and then left him to basically die !? not for anything good.

This is why post chapter 200 happens, because that is XQC chance to treat Heyu better after he treated him wrong AGAIN( Wei Rong saying to XQC he used Heyu to finally get revenge for his parents? hit the nail right on its head. He AGAIN played with his ex patient's life because he cannot let his parent's death go no matter how much pretends otherwise, no matter how much he likes to think he would never stoop so low as to not hurt someone like this. This is why he cannot even defend himself, the man who always has excuses ready to defend his honor whenever he does anything wrong)
People who read bab would get NONE of this if they acted like XQC gets special immunity to be not scrutinized in his intentions just because his ex patient nonconned him. By that logic Heyu should not be scrutinized too since he was left to die by his doctor. Isn't that an issue worth condemnation!?
This is why especially in MB novel or any DARK genre you gotta have stronger stomach about things like this. If we sat down and started being precious about one crime over another, one would never appreciate what the stories are trying to say.
