I love my weird Ukrainian-German roots. We have all the fun family recipes.
We're going to make cabbage rolls this weekend babeyyyyyyyyyyyy.
#fuck yeah cabbage rolls#I'll have them with mashed potatoes#i havent had cabbage rolls in like two years#theyre lumps of meat and rice rolled in cabbage#and baked in a tomato sauce#theyre great#very yum#my moms family us German vut they hung out in midern-day Ukraine for like a century or two#*modern-day#until things got hairy in wwii and they yeeted out of russia#they lived in farm land so the nain government didnt bother them too much#until right before wwii#and they promptly got tf out and fled to the homeland in Germany#mostly because my great grandma martha had a gun and was not afraid to use it#and she made it out with all 9 of her kids#im pretty sure she straight up shot someone#tough lady#the story i heard was they were going to be sent to a war camp or Siberia#and gg martha had to make some quick decisions and loaded the kids up with what they could carry in the wagon and got tf out#dodged the war the best they could#had my grandpa in Warsaw in 1943#made it to wherever and stayed put until 1954 where they moved to central California#but yeah!#cabbagé rolls!!!!#this Saturday!!!!#cabbage rolls!!!!!!!#theyre so good#i might freeze some and bring them with me for dinner with my boyfriend for Sunday or Saturday :)#impress him with my cooking
