KIARA in MUFASA: THE LION KING
First Day | Closed
"Do you promise to always look out for me?"
The red stains on his collar began to darken now, the young boy had cleaned himself up the best he could, but there still remained some traces of blood under his nose. He had cleared his tears away with the stained handkerchief in hand and sat in the corner of the waiting room. This was Taka's first day at school and yet; somehow, he had already seemed to have gotten in a punch up and fairly obviously had been the victim.
An older boy, with much fairer hair than the other, came through the door in a hurry. A close friend of his had told him that she saw the young boy being taken to see the nurse, although she was unsure as to why. Taka looked up and noticed it was his older brother, his expression washed with worry and concern as he took the seat next to him. "Taka? Taka! What happened?"
"I... I ran into a door." The boy sniffed, the taste of iron filled the back of his throat again, but he still attempted to remain strong for his brother.
Mufasa shook his head, he didn't believe him for a second. He looked around the room, then turned back to the younger boy and lowered his tone. "Who did this to you? Was it Mor'du?"
In all honesty, Taka hadn't even learnt the boy's name. "-No! No, it was no one. Why does it matter? I just can't look after myself.... Obviously." Taka brought the bloody cloth back to his nose and held it there, kicking his legs about under the chair, as he wasn't yet old enough to reach the ground from that height. Mufasa looked down at his hands, sometimes it was difficult trying to communicate with his little brother, he rightfully knew that Taka's stature was nowhere near his own and really, all he wanted to do was to look out for the younger boy, but it was his first day at school and somehow he'd already seemed to be in some sort of mess.
Taka didn't always want his brother's help, sometimes he just wanted a chance to prove himself, that he can be as wise and tough as Mufasa had always seemed. Taka always knew he was the weaker of the two and that nobody ever seemed to care for him like they did Mufasa. It had always been this way. "I'm only trying to help you, you asked me to look out for-" Taka shot his head back up and turned to face him. "No! If you were looking out for me none of this would've happened!" The tears began to fill his eyes once again, but Taka tried to keep these from falling and sniffled and wiped away at his eyes the best he could, but Mufasa could already tell how upset his little brother was getting and quite frankly, it upset him too.
"I'm sorry... Taka, I can't always be there for you, but whoever did this to you, they will pay. Nobody messes with my little brother." Mufasa, ruffled up the smaller boy's hair and attempted a grin. Taka smiled back, half-heartedly. "You... You won't tell mother and father, will you? Can we keep this a secret?"
Mufasa nodded and nudged his brother a little in the shoulder. "Maybe you'll get a scar, that'll show people not to mess with you!" He laughed, whilst Taka frowned and crossed his arms over his chest in a humph.
"I hope not."
