This was so good im a genius
the fact that diane de poitiers only ever appears in documentaries when it's in regards to her made-up rivalry with catherine OR in regards to henri's sex life tells you everything you need to know about how misogyny can erase a lifelong of political agency and reduce it to petty catfights designed and tailored to make women perpetually hate her as 'the other woman' and men simultaneously hate her and lust after her even though she's been dead for five centuries
I would actually spend a few words to underline something about the whole anime concept and story. Snb vs’s subheading is a tale of love and ruin. I repeat, love and ruin. So, just getting to the point asap, this is not a goddamn shoujo, but this is about love (and ruin) ffs. And I’m saying this because I’ve read somewhere people arguing about charinina or azanina development as it was irrelevant to the plot and useless to talk about it. *ahem* First of all, I get it most of the fandom apparently hate reading/watching shoujos, but as I said, it doesn’t have to be a shoujo to talk about love. There’re so many more genres who develop the topic in a more serious/mature/whatever way. And I believe snb is one of them. Second of all, parallels are fun and all, but let’s just remember we’re talking about different animes (and usually different anime genres at that), so it’s not like everything in snb is going in a way or another because it happened here and here there are so many snb parallels. It’s not even a reason of speculation imho. Third of all, this story is about Nina. Of course, it’s a sequel, Favaro and co. are here, ten years have passed, but this story is about Nina and her development granted by all the events surrounding her. I’m not talking about a particular ship here, so to stay neutral, but the simple fact is this story goes around Nina and her feelings (seen that feelings = emotions = super duper dragon transformation spitting fire here and there), and I find it obvious it would focus on developing bonding between the heroine and whoever is gonna be her partner. So, no, it’s not useless describing what she felt knowing Charioce is her Chris, it’s not pointless talking about that in the fandom and it’s not absolutely useless to talk about our ships. Just bringing back the anime genre card, snb is not even a shounen, not this season at least. (I would call it josei or seinen, but yeah let’s do not for now.) The reason why I think so is already explained above, but what I meant is, it’s not like in shounen where love is usually kept apart and rarely became one of the story’s main topic. On the other way around - and please, let me repeat myself once again - this anime will be about Nina’s love and ruin. Period. That said, do you ship charinina? azanina? Kaisarnina? Backerynina? Fine by me. We have all the right to focus our chit chatting about the romance topic and speculate about it. It can be a snb story, but it’s different this time. Everything has different flows compared to season one, jfc, beginning with second season being 24 eps long and genesis being half short. So yeah, I just wanted to say that, because I’ve read something about this with which I lightly disagree with.
