because Wukong is a cute baby unique to this verse
Basically its like very unlikely Yi ends up in this canon position in the multiverse of things.
But I can’t even imagine what a normal canon Yi would be like who didn’t meet Wukong
Eventually he would have to find someone, something, or some place that would sate his want for relief or company, and then you just have a new AU on your hands

Yi in a situation where the village lives is also not a happy camper.
Yi would struggle for the longest time to assimilate back into village life, for he left as a child and came back as an adult adjusted to a life of war. Like how do you even sit down with your family with proper food and no death in the air?
Might kiss a woman. Might kiss a man. Might kiss a tree. Just wants to try anything to feel something. Fleeting sexual or romantic relations with whoever he can get his hands on is the place where he might start trying to get his feels back
Probably spends days in bed. Even if it’s uncomfortable for him it’s just easier than trying to function out in the world.
His family is very understanding however. Everyone is just glad to see him back, even if he hits someone in a moment or something. They are still glad to have him.
