he’s seen the look she’s wearing a lot. not in himself, though that’s certainly true, but in the people who sit behind his bar, staring into their drinks like they’re hoping for answers to appear in the liquor. 

sometimes they get the answer. more often, in his experience, they don’t. a lot of them return, searching again and again. he wonders if she’ll figure her shit out or continue searching in glasses. 

“i find a second drink helps.”

truth be told, he’s not sure if she’s sober. it seems to change so often that he’s lost track, but he’s not judging. he’s the same fucking way. one day you’re high, the next you proclaim sobriety, and you just bounce back and forth between the two in the world’s shittiest game of tennis.
