It is quite remarkable that UAF introduced the concept of anodites as these immortal carefree amoral energy beings connected to every living thing in the universe and paired it with a character who struggles to let go of people, was raised by strict parents and has a strict daily schedule she bends over backwards to follow and has a strong moral compass/sense of justice-
and somehow managed to do nothing interesting with it other than giving gwen an incredibly inconsistent power set
#exhibit A: lack of a villain arc during the Daggon & Esoterica vs Forever Knights storyline#oh yes the daggon could use gwen's anodite form to free himself and yes she'd loose her humanity if she went too far with it#and yes the daggon is worshiped in legerdomain where charmcaster (a daggon believer) is and gwen wanted to go back for her#and yes the only other person who was possessed by the daggon was winston who they bothered to emphasize gwen has a soft spot for#and yes the flame keeper circle are great manipulators who can trick whoever has a mere desire of wanting to help people into joining them#as if every single element wasn't pointing towards her but nope! let's throw fucking vilgax in there! because squid!#“i was tempted by the daggon” she says at the end of UA- girl where?! there was no indication whatsoever that was happening bffr#that's the most tell don't show bs i ever witnessed istg#and like i've got so many goddamn questions#is the carelessness of anodites the reason nathalie resents gwen's powers so much?#is that why she didn't budge at the idea gwen leaving for anodine? “if you want to give into your nature you won't do so in my house”?#is amorality instinctive for anodites? is it the price for being connected to the mana field and therefore every living thing?#does that affect gwen? hell it should she should have a completely altered perception of reality and people and things#is that why her good intentions always seem “learned by the book of what's the right thing to do” but then in practice she's... meh?#is gwen fucking immortal?!! will she outlive everyone she loves?!#well she did die that one time but she was in her anodite form so maybe it's like jellyfish? she can be killed in that form specifically?#i mean verdona did say “I'll destroy your human body to free the anodite inside” so it can exist independently from her physical form#will the 70 years to master her power thing coincide with her death? will her anodite form just separate from her body once she dies?#and kevin said memory loss was a side effect of it (idk where he got that information from but i trust kevin with my life)#so will she just be reborn and have no recollection of... anything? “Ben” will be just a name?#if she heard Kevin's name will she even wonder why she feels it SHOULD ring a bell but it's JUST out of reach? will that even be the case?#like that would SUCK man! and for everybody else too! being unable to shake memories back into her TvT#on the flipside if she doesn't forget it also sucks! eternal grief would make anyone insane- let alone miss. i'm not giving up on anybody#*gestures around* there's so much one could do with e v e r y t h i n g that her anodite ancestry entails- but noooo#*shield*#*shield breaks*#ben 10#gwen tennyson#ben 10 uaf#gwendolyn tennyson
