When the Norisu children were little and still in training their parents would often leave them in the care of one of the only neighbors that didn't fear them, a certain red haired westerner. 

And after the events of the Sorcerer being tossed in the pit and Nomi becoming a book, Nomi and the older red head grew close, this lead to the him making his own sacrifice and choosing to become part of the ninja's cycle. years passed until Nomi couldn't bare watching his brother, First Ninja have the pain of being the hero of Norrisville anymore 

The two immortals decided that the ninja would only last 4 years until they were able to regain and move on with their lives without any mental scars The Nomicon's guardian would select and rid of a new ninja every few years as Nomi did all of the "dirty" work

after First Ninja’s memory was wiped, he never saw Nomi again, assuming his brother died like the rest of his kin
