i cant begin to express how deeply unsettling early arranged marriages are. like ur not giving ur child the chance to find out themselves and what THEY want to do, what they want to BE; instead you’re shipping them off to get married bc its just “So Sad If No Marriage, Amiright Fellas? :(”another issue is the fact that there’s this expectation to have kids immediately afterwards! And no one THINKS for one fucking second, about whether that’s actually an ok thing to shove down everyones throats, especially when its an arranged marriage, neither partners know each other very well, and they should get to know each other properly BEFORE they have a kid or else its just bad news for the whole family if it turns out the couple loathes each other! Like everyone’s eager to have a “new addition to the family” but no one cares to think of the environment the kid might grow up in, or whether the marriage will end up with one spouse being abused, or some other awful shit! It’s just expected for everything to go swimmingly (just like how its expected for the woman to make all the sacrifices in this marriage) and even if it doesn’t its fine bc “someone else has it worse” but JAMEELA, THIS SHIT IS STILL PRETTY DAMN AWFUL AND YOU DESERVE BETTER FROM YOUR FAMILY/HUSBAND/WHOEVER THE FUCK, and our society SUCKS and we should SAY IT
