I remember when I was little I was so shocked, absolutely scandalized when I watched wizard of oz special features and they said judy wasn’t considered very pretty at the time. i thought she was so beautiful i was ready to throw some hands
in the scrubs episode “my way home”, a tribute to the wizard of oz, there is a character in a coma and turk needs his family to pull the plug so the heart can be donated. this character is named ray bolger, after the actor who played the scarecrow. however, if you have participated in american culture at all, you may be aware that it was the tin man and not the scarecrow who had a whole heart thing. this character should’ve been named jack haley. thanks for coming to my ted talk
I have come to realize that dorothy gale is an incredibly relatable character. wants to go out and do stuff but when she’s out she wants to go home
wizard of oz documentary: it will still tell people 2000 years from now what is the noblest, the kindest, the gentlest, the very best of humanity
me:
I will never forgive the oz restoration team for digitally removing the wire holding up the lion’s tail
i'm going to sleep now but i have a few thoughts: 1) isn't it great that kirk and spock are in love 2) i need to watch the wizard of oz soon it's been way too long 3) after we watched rent my roommate said he wanted to watch hairspray sometime and i told him we also have to watch newsies 4) i am sad that i can't see newsies in theaters 5) i also really want to watch titanic for some reason 6) newsies 1992 is really… brown
it's amazing how ugly the cover art is for the 80th anniversary wizard of oz 4k. like who approved this
85th anniversary is better but it's 3x as expensive just for a steelbook. plus a bunch of paper crap (like fake movie tickets and stuff) which i think is one of the dumbest things that's come to be included in special edition type stuff. you look at it once and then it's worth nothing, it's not even really worthy of display 90% of the time. also the cover is still a little dumb looking. the disc is the same transfer and features as 80th so it's really not worth it at all.
