Granted, it’s not a problem any of their actual students would have. And if she’d been in her own academy, this type of outdoors, physical activity centered class would have been accompanied by a change in uniform. However, as it stands, when they are tasked to head out into the forest to learn and practice how to personally procure items for the potions they’ll be making on the latter half of their lesson, Alice finds herself at a certain disadvantage.
So far, she’s had no problem that some extra caution wouldn’t fix, but she can see a bigger obstacle up ahead. The next area stands significantly higher, and lacks a sloping path or any type of differing levels that she could use as stepping stones. Well, all the male students can jump the height just by using a little bit more of power. But she is also significantly shorter than most students, and attempting to go over the hurdle in any way while wearing a skirt wouldn’t be the most appropriate of choices. Therefore, Alice waits by the sidelines until everyone has had a chance to do so first, pointedly ignoring the way everyone’s questioning stares turn into understanding before they look away.
The fact that she’s wasting time that could have been used to find more ingredients is steadily fouling her mood, which is why she fails to immediately turn around when a presence sidles up a little too close for comfort. The polite and helpful sounding offer for assistance with an undercurrent of amusement hiding just beneath the surface lets her know it’s someone she’s familiar with, at least. “Oh, it’s fi-ahh!” Before she can even properly respond, Jade has already lifted her up and effortlessly brought both of them up to the higher level, plonking her back down on the path as if it was nothing.
Her embarrassment catches up to her belatedly, warmth blooming pink across her fair skin as she bites the inside of her cheek to keep from pouting too much. She can’t very well complain about him leaving her flustered when he actually helped her, especially when she’s familiar enough with his antics to know it was probably done for that very purpose. Regardless of him managing to catch her completely off guard, she is grateful and offers him a curtsy. “Thank you, Jade...” Nevermind that she’s not quite meeting his sharp, mismatched eyes.
