I am the devil that you forgot
Crack- The noise was enough to send eyes snapping open, stale lungs breathing in air that burnt with the chill. With such a hazy mindset, it took a while to pin down the noise, the creaking and cracking that rang in his sensitive ears. Blearly gaze shifted down, fixing on numb finger tips. Crack-- The sound rang out again, each flex of a digit causing the build up of ice to shatter, crumbling along his bedspread like a scattering of stars. How long had he been asleep...? A groan of protest pushed past hi lips as he forced himself up. The dust rose to the air, swirling in lazy clouds. Must have been months. He could only guess. Time slipped away when one hibernated a good portion of the year. At least, he assumed it had only been a year. A growl filled up his cabin room, pulling his thoughts away to something much more vital. Food. He nearly groaned with the idea of it. Roasted meat, dribbling with it’s juices. A rich, frothy pint or two. Hell, maybe a gallon. He earned it, after such a slumber. Creaks and pops of breaking ice and settled joints echoed as he got to his feet, bare toes flexing against the moss that littered the floor. Nostrils flared, than wrinkled, smelling the musk that wafted up from his own being. Worse than when his deer got soaked through!. Food could wait until after a shower, this time. After all, what was a meal without some company? Sharp teeth glinted in a devilish grin, his mind chugging to conjure up some faces. Maybe it was time to pay a visit or two. He was sure they wouldn’t mind his absence. A fae has to do what a fae has to do, by the by.
