Before I go to bed I have to tell you guys. I usually never have nightmares, but I did wake up to one last night, and it’s worth reciting.

In the dream, I got up from my nap and went to my computer, only to find that my drawing tablet had smacked my nendoroid Mercy again - it has a bad habit of doing that, it’s like it can’t stand the Mercy being too close to it and will fall for no reason just to smash her. Only this time, the transparent wing part on one side had snapped into three pieces.

I was so fucking distressed that I woke up, but because I was still in that weird sleep-haze state, I thought the dream was a memory and my Mercy was actually in pieces.

Well, at least Mary did. If one were to look at the pair, she looked like at least half of the Winchester that was currently her seat. She had always been on the smaller size——always underweight and that was a worry that her parents dealt with, but she was healthy. (Just a very picky eater.)

The television was droning on about… something, but she was half reading and half talking. Idle fingers turned the pages while talking about something related to the book. Half of her mind was on that, and the other was somewhere else. It was a practiced art.

Leaning back, she responded dully to some comment without fully comprehending what was going on, or the conversation she was having. It wasn’t until she felt breath on her neck and lips against her ear that was enough of a shock that she froze for a moment, words dying on her lips.

Slowly blinking, Mary turned and raised an eyebrow, “There are other ways to get my attention, you know—though that was very effective.”

Maybe if she just stayed right here, in this room, in this small house--no one would find her. Maybe. It hadn't worked in the past, but maybe it would work now. This time. Maybe, maybe, maybe...

A crunch of brush made her jump and the blonde shifted away from the wall. Calm. Calm thoughts. It wasn't even near changing time yet. She had a week at least. Why was she so jumpy? Calm down! Her brain screamed at her to be more calm but all it did was make Carol more anxious, wound tighter and tighter, the stress teetering on the edge of snapping and letting all her little demons come out in a panicked mess.

Not an option.

It'd been a year and she still wasn't used to the new... senses. Even like this, her hearing was peaked, and so was smell. Someone was coming. Funny. She used to be friendly, but now, she just pressed herself backwards, away from the scent, praying they just moved on. Please, please, please... She didn't want to hurt anyone else.

They didn't listen and the door swung open. Blue eyes raised, wide and frightened, and she nearly fell trying to back away. "No. You should leave. Now."

Hands raised, her sleeves (from a shirt far too big for her) fell down to her elbows in time to see the timer click to zero.
