Sami hadn’t expected it to happen then- she’d been out for a walk in the woods with Angie when a thunderhead had rolled in, sleet pelting the two as they sought shelter. Finally they found an outcropping of rock to hide under, thunder booming around them as they sat it out, Sami covering her ears due to the reverberation of the sound in their curved hideout.
After what felt like an eternity, the sleet subsided, and Sami volunteered to leave the shelter first. Of course, no sooner had she gone outside did a bolt of lightning suddenly strike directly in front of her, blowing her back and causing her to scream out in pain.
It was a natural strike- it didn’t feel a thing like magic. The gods had decided to take her back, she figured, though they could’ve chosen a much less painful way. Her hands still felt the shocks, the front of her body felt burned, but she couldn’t lean forward to look and see if that was true. Her body didn’t listen to what she tried to tell it, and when she finally began to break through, it was only simple, dulled movements she was capable of.
"S-stay… back…" She managed to choke out, fearing that Angie would approach and be hit by the shocks, but her friend ignored her, dragging her back into the shelter and trying to shake her into a state of full consciousness. However, the sleet had melted before the lightning had struck, and she was cold- so, so very cold.
“S-song…” Her words were slurred, pained as she tried to raise her voice to speak to Angie. “Please…sing me to sleep so I can…leave this world in peace…”
She felt her energy failing her, her mind finally relenting to the pain, dulling her senses further. The electricity finally seemed to leave her fingertips, her body now feeling empty and cold and without an ounce of energy left.
The only thing she could tell still existed as all faded to black was Angie’s voice, tainted with sorrow as she sang a song that the former pegasus knight couldn’t understand.
