i think you kind of fall into a trap w the way you phrase things? like people can put up what they want to put up - i don't think you're in disagreement there. you're allowed to not like it and openly talk about not liking it also, and that's good and normal and healthy! but then you phrased the last sentences of your post in a way that made it seem like that shipper's morality invalidated the point they made about ao3, and that's where the danger comes in i think.
Ohhh, yeah, i think that was it. Okay. Alright. I can try to make it better while still stating my own opinion there. Tell me if I fall into that trap of point being invalidated by person.
Their point was well and good. However, they (in my personal opinion) are a Bad Person- shipping incest is a big no go, for me (and others). Some people don't even want to see people like that on their dash, or are just plain ignorant and are not supportive of such things.
They can make a Good Point, but if their overall ideology is not.... Well, not okay with someone, typically a person doesn't want that person on their dash. At all. And will retract it upon knowing that info.
However, most people see this, associate it with the bad person, and go "blehhh ao3 bad", and I wanted to say that, no, just because this bad person likes it for Gross Reasons, doesn't mean that ao3 is instantly ruined. Just... Um... Kinda sucks, but that comes with the territory. You can share your fics without fear of being smashed down upon by thr government, which is ultimately what it was made for!
Does that make better sense? Do I need to rethink on this phrasing?
