He takes hold of his face, gently placing a kiss to his lips before lingering a moment in his space. Savoring what time they had to spend together, knowing it was always so fleeting when they'd send him away to do odd missions in far off places. Reason why he was always left longing, hoping to keep him for as long as possible, knowing he'd soon have to depart. "Are you certain I cannot join you? I would feel better if we were to go together on this mission... I want you safe."
is he certain? HELL no — the only one certain that hanzo can’t go with him is winston. jesse’s certainty of it just doesn’t matter because he’s not the one in charge. if he had his way, they would go together. they compliment each other in their jobs, if nothing more, and it isn’t as if they’ve ever provided a distraction for one another. he’s almost like a child in his thoughts, PETULANT as they may be — but he’s well-behaved enough to understand that this is his job, whether he likes it or not. he signed up for this.
maybe hanzo can see the battle in his eyes. he hates, no... LOATHES when they have to split up like this. these long, drawn-out missions that need him all the way out in god knows where that somehow always need JESSE’S particular skill set and no one else’s. maybe if hanzo could come with him, it wouldn’t be all bad. but that’s almost never permitted — it’s those conversations with winston that make jesse miss his bounty hunter’s freedom.
his flesh hand drifts to rest with hanzo’s, the slightest of sighs passing his lips. calloused thumb rubbing gently across his knuckles in the gentlest way that he can manage.
❛ must have argued with winston about it for upwards of an hour... he’s stickin’ to his guns this time, honey. ❜ his famous little half-smile creeps upon his face, hoping that it could reassure either of them just a little bit. he brought hanzo’s hand to his lips, tenderly pressing a kiss to the skin of his knuckles. ❛ really, i’ll be okay... not the riskiest mission i’ve ever been on. i’ll go ‘n get it done, quick ‘n easy, and then i’ll be back here with you.
