Doomed Lovers

First off, don’t get it twisted; I am a MoonRiver stan until the day I die.

THAT BEING SAID! Whatever these two fucking weirdos have going on is SO fascinating and I just want to put them in a jar and watch them scamper around and try to kill each other.

I went with ‘doomed lovers’ as the trope because it was the closest I could find; they were doomed from the start!!! They were only ever going to hurt each other!!! But like they were never lovers so???? They’re not ‘right person, wrong time’, they’re not ‘lovers to enemies’, they’re a secret third worse thing!!! Tofi is Moon’s personal bludgeoning stick, and Moon is Tofi’s ‘one who got away /threateningly/’. 

They make each other worse! They make each other better! They’re the only ones who can really understand the other and they HATE that! They want to destroy each other but only they can do it!

Anyways, Moon get therapy and back to your husband.

Mutual Pining

THIS! IS! THAT! GOOD! SHIT!!!!

Mutual pining my beloved! Not only is it mutual pining, oh no. It’s mutual “unrequited” pining!!!! It’s mutual “unrequited” OBLIVIOUS pining!!!!!! God I love disaster gays!!!!

Individually, these girls have so much going on. Selena with her magic, Marcy with her family situation; it’s a lot. And yet these two are able to find time to have big obvious crushes on each other! They don’t have the time to process nor acknowledge those crushes but hey, we can’t win ‘em all!

The basis of all good romance stories is two-fold: why aren’t they together, and why do they need to be? Marcy and Selene both crave community and connection and are able to meet each other at their own levels and give each other what they need emotionally. They need each other and frankly deserve some happiness in their lives!

Unfortunately, they’re both inexperienced, oblivious little wlws, so who knows when or if they’re going to figure this out. They will probably need a nudge. Or a swift kick in the ass.

But! Hope springs eternal! I believe in them! They are so sweet and I can not wait to see more of them moving forward! I am keeping an eager eye on these two and the fall out from New Years.

Soulmates

Look, call me basic, but I am a sucker for a good “omg they were soulmates” romance. I choose to blame Soul Eater and Pacific Rim being Formative Pieces of Media to a young Silv. I truly have so much love for these boys and the way they work together is brilliant. The hardest part to me about the soulmate trope is actually making them believable! You can tell me all day long that they’re destined to be together and made for each other and blah blah blah, but if you don’t show me why, I won’t believe it.

I believe it with Tian.

They’ve been through so much together -- through curses and Swynlake dreams and amnesia -- but they always come out on the other side together, and they always come out stronger. I’ll gladly admit I teared up a bit when they eloped, and I can’t wait to see where they go from here!

(And they better invite me to their wedding 🔪)
