Open rp~Night Walk
Ah yes, something about the night was always so pleasant. Perhaps it was the air, which seemed to be so much lighter, so much easier to breath in, even if it left a bit of a sting on the insides of one’s lungs from the slight chill present in it. Maybe it was how completely peaceful life seemed to be; with just the breeze and the lights of the city, everything seemed to be at rest. No, no…it wasn’t either of those. It was the way the world was so empty, and the streets were all clear but for maybe one other person every now and again. Walking alone, with the comfortable night all around, one might feel as though they were the one who ruled the world, or that they were the last person left alive. It was curiously free and maybe a bit lonely…but in general, weren’t the lonely people always the ones who were walking about at this ungodly hour on their own anyways? Well, the lonely and those who were up to no good.
Of course, it was the ‘last existing human’ aspect that Ikutsuki loved so. It gave him just the taste of standing above others to remind him why he kept going; only if he deluded himself enough though. At other times, it was just a nice exercise to clear the mind, or to think a good long while. ‘Thinking’ always equated to either a listing of shortcomings and failures then the ways to fix them, or strayed into the land of delusions anyways...thus, the same mental subject bounced back and forth every night within the man’s head. It was the perfect means by which to avoid doing just that though- to just focus on the bodily ache caused by the cold air, or to count the lights in the city.
It was particularly cold tonight, and every breath Ikutsuki expelled froze in the air as a white mist. Like a child, he played the game of ‘seeing shapes’ in his own solidified breath. He hadn’t seen a single other person at all this night, hadn’t been able to watch them idly pass by. If possible, he could say that it was even lonelier than usual- maybe it was the way the nearly-full moon beat out all the rest of the lights for dominance. Or maybe, he was just overeager, waiting.
Dark Hour or no Dark Hour, he had always liked the full moon. There was so much superstition for that one natural phenomenon; it carried so much weight indeed…It was rather funny. The whole human tendency to fear or to become enamored with one thing, for whatever strange reason…though, he could not deny that he fit right into that scheme.
Lost in this line of thinking now, he didn’t notice that another person had wandered into sight until he had bumped shoulders with them. It sent a jarring pain right down his side from the shock of the impact, making him stumble a bit, even though it hadn’t even been that hard an impact.
“So sorry.” Contact with another was the last thing he wanted on his lone time at nights. But, in this situation, it really must be done.
…Then again, it would be a good remedy for that empty, lonely feeling.
