at this point, the scariest thing about the phantom of the opera to me is when every phantom actor tries to walk down the stairs as red death without tripping on his brocade cape and eating shit in that enormous plaster skeletor mask

I just wrote the LONGEST draft post on marital prospects and finances vis-a-vis the phantom of the opera. I did this while taking a bath and now it is very much past my bedtime. Can someone check on me, am I okay
some evidence suggesting Love Never Dies is fanfiction written by Erik:
the music does burn me when I listen to it, much like Don Juan
and Erik’s not really a lyricist, so…
Christine is the only one who pretty much stays in character from Phantom, but even she remains idealized
Raoul
Erik is the Man in Charge instead of some creep who writes annoying notes and begs via extortion to get his way
conveniently no one mentions he’s a murderer or anything
it ends in tragedy because this man struggles to imagine himself happy even in his dreams ("i always imagined she would be my dead wife" from Leroux's novel comes to mind)
he gets the girl for one (1) rowdy fun romantic tender night of sexy sex in which she holds him and caresses him and says nice things to himmm :')
he definitely didn't cry during or after sex AT ALL
he's basically the hero of the story and that ballet girl is the villain who, naturally, is also in love with him
RAOUL
Christine doesn't see his face when they get it on (see prior note explaining how he can't imagine himself a happy ending)
but she decides his soul is "pure" (her comments about his distorted soul in final lair REALLY hurt his feelings and he's been thinkin about that ever since)
Christine says she loves him at least three times
some evidence to the contrary:
the wildly juvenile musical composition of every single song
plus not nearly enough minor chords, atonality, etc.
this man wrote himself as a clown? the ring leader of all the other clowns?
bathing beauty
just throwing this out there, but I don't think Erik wants kids
no one mentions how badass of a murderer/angel of death/death incarnate he is
he doesn't do cool magic either

Tonight I am watching love never dies for the first time. Up til now I’ve only been listening to the soundtrack. It’s gonna change me I just know it.

often I see tons of posts on this website that are like, clearly reacting to some opinion that's held/proclaimed by others but that I've literally never heard or seen, and I know I'm just. over here in the corner playing with my barbies. but like. are we absolutely sure we're not just collectively reacting to the idea of someone thinking something rather than reacting to a broadly held opinion. like are we sure
someone needs to stop me from impulsively posting my fic as soon as I'm excited with a finished draft
