"Beth..." Quantum Leap, ‘M.I.A.’ S02E22 #7
Theorizing that one could time travel within his own lifetime, Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished.
I never noticed before, but Sam hugged Al here?
You can even see how he talks to the thin air that is Al and it looks like Sam is hugging himself - but no, he hugged Al. (Near the end in the vid which I for obvious reasons had to include because of radiant-happy Al happy-radianting for Sam.)
Well, he non-hugged Al of course but you know, we take it.
They sadly seemed to have cut that moment.
Not be all conspiratorial but isn’t it likely that when Sam finally leaped home, they kept it secret?
Surely Sam didn’t want to go through countless scrutinies and hearings, defending himself in interrogations and being pressured to go out there again, this time all for the gain of a ruthless government?
Surely Al knew what was to come from the committee and the pentagon and as protective as he's always been of Sam – wouldn’t Al do anything to protect Sam now too? (Yes, yes he would.)
I’m sure Ziggy helped to cover it, Gooshie and Tina and Beeks too.
They all had enough top notch technical equipment and genius mind power to keep Sam’s final leap home hidden, and his life after.
That’s why the world thinks Sam never leaped home.
Al just retired and hauled Sam somewhere far away, where he and Sam could live a normal - and oh heavens maybe even a happy, joyful - life.
Maybe Al kept up the appearance for a while, whatever suited the timeline they found themselves in when Sam came back.
So while the world and media (*hint hint*) thought Sam forever lost, he wasn’t at all – he was at Al’s side day by night and night by day, as it was always meant to be.
Would you trust Dr Sam Beckett from Quantum Leap to do your top surgery?
Would You Trust Them?
Yes, undoubtedly
Yes, with some hesitation
No, but I can see why others might
No, never
