It had been about six months since Damien had come over to join the Corsican’s in the Big Apple. While Everlee had been with them from when they started to settle into the city, she knew that meeting the big man was her official in for the mafia. This wasn’t where she imagined her life going. At the rate of how things had been happening for her for the majority of her childhood, her younger self would have never believed that she would be living a life as luxurious as this. As long as Everlee continued to prove her loyalty to the French and to Damien, she would find herself with more money that she knew what to do with. And the best part of it all was that she had somehow managed to get a little family from the whole ordeal. Whenever Evie would pull off another job, Damien would not only shell out cash for her, but he would commend her for all of the work she had put into her job. Hell, he would even say he was proud of her.
Maybe it was because she had never had a father figure in her life before, but the girl clung to the attention that he gave her. There hadn’t been anyone in her entire life that had ever told her they were proud of what she was doing. And it was something that she was going to hold onto so tightly because she feared that if she eased up on it, that it would slip away as quickly as it came. So whenever Damien asked to meet with her, she made sure that she would wear a pretty dress and that her hair was nicely in place rather than in the messy bun she normally pulled it up in. She wanted to be the best she could possibly be whenever he was around because she didn’t want to give him any reasons to think that it was okay to leave her behind.
Even if this meeting that he had scheduled hadn’t been about business, simply for pleasure, Everlee made sure that she arrived to the rooftop bar early enough to stake out some good seating. Something she hadn’t needed to do considering there was a table on reserve for them. She waited patiently when she got there too. Never even glancing down at her phone because she didn’t want to seem like she was uninterested by any sort of the imagination. Her head perked up when she saw him make an entrance, eyes practically lighting up as he strolled over to her. “Mr. Olivier,” she beamed standing up and nervously smoothing out the wrinkles in her dress. “I’m so happy to see you!”
