Bonjour Sleuth! J'écoutais ta participation au podcast Unfortunate Associates et j'ai eu une épiphanie : et si le Sugar Bowl était un objet pour la communication de réfrigérateur? Et qu'il faudrait regarder les initiales (S. B.) plutôt que le contenu du Sugar Bowl. Snicket et Beaudelaire? Sunny Beaudelaire? As-tu réfléchi à cette option?

I would say that the initials are significant in the sense that Beatrice is the last known owner of the Sugar Bowl. So her child being named S.B., her possibly changing her name to Snicket-Baudelaire and sugar bowls being provided at the Snicket-Baudelaire wedding reception (according to the un-Authorized Autobiography) are… possibly intentional? Daniel Handler gives entirrely too much thought to initials so it’s not the craziest thing which would have happened in this series. As an heiress to the Baudelaire estate, Sunny Baudelaire could very well be the legal owner of the Sugar Bowl.

I like the idea that Beatrice became obsessed with these initials as a way to remind everyone of her legitimacy and ownership, even though she had stolen it from Esmé.
