“Whose shoe is this?” During Kiwi, Denver

Denver, 9/7/2021
Like the gossamer strands of the woman in "She", my memories will dissipate in the night, so I'm capturing them before I sleep. While it's unfair to compare Las Vegas and Denver, it is, I'm afraid, inevitable for those who have been privileged to see both shows.
Las Vegas was raw, emotional energy. Denver was polished, professional energy. He was carefree -- dare I say lighthearted -- in Denver? As though he'd bundled up all of his nerves from March 2020 until September, 2021, Harry used Las Vegas as a catharsis. He used Denver as a launch pad to a bright performance future.
I noticed more this show about the staging and how he highlights the band. Not just Mitch -- who absolutely deserves the spotlight in "She" while Harry walks in the near-dark on the other side of the stage. But also when Harry performs with Ny and Elin, he stands slightly behind them, putting them out front on display. It's very Harry -- showcasing the talent he's hired to support him.
There was some chatter about hiking in the Flat Irons (a mountain range near Boulder) and some jokes about the altitude (which are always expected in Denver). His speech before 'Fine Line' hasn't changed much in its wording, but the emotion in Denver was refined.
My favorite moments are always the unscripted ones, and I am sad that COVID prevents his audience interactions. We did get a genuine smile from Mitch which touched my heart in ways I can't explain. Harry grabbed the usual flags for his prancing during TPWK and WMYB, but he also snagged a Black Lives Matter flag which garnered a loud roar of approval from the crowd. And thanks to our collective feedback, he skipped the whale tonight. No need to spread more germs during COVID which is the practical thing to do even if it is less dramatic than spouting water from his mouth.
And there was absolutely no question tonight. Sarah's applause and approval rating definitely ranked higher than Mitch's.
Had I only attended the Denver show, I would leave with a happy, joyous feeling that I had indeed been gifted the best of Harry. Yet I'm very, very grateful that I also had the honor of watching his first performance for Love on Tour in Las Vegas.
May the rest of the shows provide many spontaneous moments of joy for Harry and the band. May those of you who get to attend bask in the glory of Harry. He's worth it. Every time.
Adore You, Denver, 07September2021
