A small character analysis of Elias Bouchard and his mind
(SPOILERS FOR ELIAS' TRUE IDENTITY, AS WELL AS OTHER GENERAL SPOILERS)
This analysis was written by my dear friend Elihas! I am simply posting it here, with his permission of course. You can find him on Instagram at @heehayoghurt! He does art, and he's really good at it too!! Show him some love, he deserves it.
Analysis under the cut!
Sampson Kempthorne is a massive socialist and man of the people, as described in his letter of detailing his want for moral justice to the inmates of the prison he was designing. Only leaving me to further believe Jonah punched Hamilton once. The man surrounded himself with his own kind of people for Fear's sake-
This also leads me to believe that Jonah is STILL a socialist, as he so obviously makes it a point to distribute both work and gain to every avatar he collaborates with. Even Jon. Although with the disguise as Elias Bouchard, he takes the role of capitalist, because;
1. Original Elias Bouchard came from a massively rich (albeit suspected swindled rich) family.
2. His personal plans would have the capitalist ideology work best as guise under the location of the Archive, as well as the general masses of society.
3. Funds to his little passion project needs unsolicited funding, only gained through the means of capitalism.
This means: Jonah Magnus is the best actor ever, because he can fake having an ideology. That's nuts.
The fact that Elias can do this, 100% confirms he was simply toying with Jon in his interview in episode 40, by sounding deceitful on purpose. Elias is as dangerous as he wants himself to be, and is professional in both social custom acting and the ins and outs of of the human psyche in general.
Therefore, I have decided to add up and conclude is weaknesses.
1. He's a MASSIVE gossiper, pent up secrets and deceit are naturally a hard thing to keep close to the chest. Think of 200 years of lore keeping, just IMAGINE what that does to your brain. There has to be some sort of ventilation.
2. Other Eye avatars. He so obviously relies on the fact that he's the only one in the area who can extract information, that having another Eye in the game would completely throw it off unless he himself intended it. Just look at Jon, even when it was on purpose to make him the Archivist, he still had trouble keeping him tied down.
3. With a constant perception pointed outwards, his mind lays largely unprotected. Yes, he goes through great measures to make himself PHYSICALLY safe, but just imagine what would happen if, say, someone from the Web or Spiral came a little too close. The Web has already found out about this, they're already in full swing. I mean, just look at the amount of spider webs in the archive
The weaknesses I've described also match to canon, no wonder he resides in his office for the most part with his gossiping problem, the secret would have been out in a WEEK.
And that concludes the analysis! Personally I find it super interesting, which is exactly why I posted it here, so yeah!
