i think that one of the things some of y'all don't seem to realize when i say "why do you follow me anyways" or "why do you read my shitty fanfic" is that those aren't just shitty put-downs, that's me honest-to-god not knowing what i'm doing write "we follow because you're funny" okay, great. what about me is funny, because fuck if i know - my entire life i've been told that every joke i tell is Wrong and Bad, so i really don't know. "your writing's good" what makes it "good" though? my characterization is mediocre at best, i'm certain i don't have a particularly good or even unique or memorable style, and if my understanding of "voice" is correct then mine's practically nonexistent. the only thing i have going for me is decent spelling and grammar, and the fact that i don't write obnoxiously. those are hardly enough to make something "good" - "passable" is the word i would use hnggg ignore me
