On 10 May 2022, the Duchess of Cambridge attended the official opening of the Glade of Light Memorial along with Prince William in Manchester.
THE CAMBRIDGE DIARIES
On 10 May 2022, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the official opening of the Glade of Light Memorial at Manchester Arena. The Glade of Light Memorial commemorates and honours the victims of the victims of the 22nd May 2017 terrorist attack at Manchester Arena.
They attended the service taking place alongside the memorial where the Duke of Cambridge made a short speech, in which he spoke of his own grief for his mother. William and Catherine then took a short walk around the memorial garden and laid down a bouquet of white and blue flowers.
They later went to a private reception inside Manchester Cathedral, where they spoke with some of the bereaved families and those involved in the response effort.
During their visit both William and Catherine were wearing 'We Choose love' wristbands. In addition to that Catherine had bee-themed earrings on which were a tribute to the city’s people.
Before their departure they spoke to 7 year old scout Archie McWilliams and his uncle the Greater Manchester West Scouts' County Commissioner Andy Farrell who gave Catherine a bouquet of flowers including myrtle and sweet william that were in her wedding bouquet.
