Caught Me

Summer. Late Sunday night. Heading up the Parkway from the southern end.

67 Mustang convertible

Warm. Sky full of stars. Only car on the road.

I was wrong about the only car on the road bit.

It was me and a State Trooper

Pulled me over. So unfair

He asked me if I knew how fast I'd been going

He'd been following me for a while he said

It was over 100 mph he said.

I think he was impressed.

Didn't help. Gave me a ticket for driving 80 mph

Did me a favor he said. This way I wouldn't lose my license

Thank you officer I said

Waited till I saw him turn around

You’re in a car traveling 100 mph. Does this exhilarate or frighten you?  Who is driving? Where are you going? 

I am most definitely not driving.  So it’s probably my husband. It creates excitement but also a little bit of fear as well. We probably aren’t going to any particular place. More than likely we are out for a random cruise through the back roads.
