100 Mile Fire Rescue Update July 30th 2018 3:20pm On July 28, 2018 at approximately 11:00 P.M., 100 Mile House Fire Rescue responded to Norbord OSB mill for a report of fire coming from outside the mill. Upon arrival, crews observed multiple piles of OSB on fire approximately fifty feet by eighty feet in size. Mill staff were attempting to suppress the fire before crews took over. 100 Mile House Fire Rescue requested assistance from 108 Mile VFD to assist them in extinguishing the fire. Fire crews stayed on site until 9:30 a.m. the next morning. A total of seventeen firefighters battled the fire. No injuries occurred to any of the mill staff or firefighters. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Hazmat Response Before crews could return home from the mill fire, a call was received for a semi truck that had been leaking diesel fuel along Hwy 97. 100 Mile House Fire Rescue responded and were able to contain the spill from advancing to the nearby storm drain. Fire crews requested District of 100 Mile House public works department attend to assist in the clean up. No injuries or significant environment issues occurred.
