Tats, man.
I wear my memories Right out on my skin Each line is a map Of the places I’ve been Every shape and color Has a story to tell The people I’ve loved Are in there as well One day my tattoos Will be faded and blue It’s how long I’ll know I’ve been loving you.
My Log.
It’s a new 100 day project! I am again attempting to write 100 poems using the hashtag #100parttimepoems. Follow along!
And now for your reading pleasure, poem #4/100, ‘My Log’:
It’s cracking and crunchy with moss on one side But I think this log is a nice place to hide. It’s quiet and shady on this part of the trail And the log is not covered in beetles or snails. I just needed a minute or maybe a few I’ve got lots of water and thoughts to go through. The dust from the trail has been seeping into my soles And I’m hours away from anything cold. At first I was worried about being out here alone But now that I’m sitting, that fear seems overblown. The sunlight is peaking down through the leaves Birds are all calling and singing to me. This log that I’ve found is a nice place to rest And to think out of everyone I know it best. In a while I’ll be gathered and get on my way But for now I’ll just listen to what the forest has to say.
