100 Pieces of Perry
Fashion Week is one of those coveted periods of time, in NYC, when the best designers, stylists and models all collaborate to create not a runway show, but an experience. People from the world over travel to visit New York for seven wonderfully hectic days and nights of crowded rooms and runways, Über rides from Meatpacking to Midtown and After-parties with the glitterati. But, coming from someone who has attended many Fashion Week events, it’s a lot to deal with! It often ends with thousands of exhausted socialites swearing the week off.
In a city built around convenience and hustle, it would be great to have an event that wasn’t dragging you around. So, you can imagine how pleased and flattered I was to join Perry Ellis and 99 other influential gentlemen in the first-ever Instagram Fashion Show! That’s right! I was given a unique look by Perry Ellis and was asked two simple things:
Don’t post these images until I was told.
Go Beyond your average Selfie!
This sounded like my kinda project, as I’m all about working with amazing people and introducing change in an otherwise classically established event, like Fashion Week!
I had no idea what I was going to be receiving, so it was a lot of fun to find a way to stylize a “Mystery Outfit.” When I saw that my look was going to be a Dressy-Sporty-All-Black-Everything, I thought it would be fun to take this and make it “Me.”
I’m a sucker for Ft. Washington Park because there is a fantastic view of Neighboring New Jersey, the beautiful GW Bridge and this killer red lighthouse. I wanted to bring a moody, New England feel to make my Very Perry Look. The clothes were comfy as hell and the pants are going to be my new “This works with Everything” pants.
So do yourself a favor and check out the show by typing #100PiecesOfPerry on Instagram and get yourself a pair of “This works with Everything Pants.”
Best, Bobby
