A hash tag is crude. It doesn't tell the whole story. But nonetheless it is true. Turkey has failed the world. Yes. Turkey. I am not referring to the Ottoman Empire when I say #turkeyfailed, I am referring to the modern day Turkey. The Turkey that refuses to recognize the lost lives of the Armenians. Your own historians speak against you, and in return the citizens bomb their homes. If not for these historians Turkey would have never even acknowledged anything at all had happened. They needed to then redefine it as a "mass killing". But it is more than that. It is genocide. The word genocide was created for this specific instance. Hitler himself knew of the Armenian genocide and said "after all who today remembers the genocide of the Armenians?". Turkey has failed humanity by failing to recognize the inhuman acts it's predecessors have committed.
April 24, 2015, was the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, and we were louder than we have ever been before. Do not pretend you can’t hear us.
Today marks 100 years of remembering the 1.5 million Armenian who were murdered by the Ottoman Empire. To this day the Turkish people refuse to recognize the horrific acts that nearly wiped out a nation. Today we march for justice once again in Los Angeles, from Little Armenia to the door steps of the Turkish Consulate.
