Can the Faroes Top Group 3 of Nations League D?
I have been waiting to write about this group for quite a while now and I must say that I have been a fan of the Faroe Islands since their two victories over Greece during Euro 2016 qualification.
We all know that the Faroe Islands have been one of the minnows of UEFA for a long time and there was also a time when they had to play home matches in other countries due to not having a suitable pitch.
But those two wins over Greece during Euro 2016 qualification shot up their ranking like no other.
And it definitely helped considering that the Faroe Islands were able to pick up two wins against Andorra and Latvia during World Cup qualifying and they also tied three matches against Hungary, Latvia, and Andorra for a grand total of nine points.
Group 3 of Nations League D consists of Azerbaijan, Faroe Islands, Malta, and Kosovo.

Online bookmaker 10Bet has the latest odds and currently it is Azerbaijan favored to top the group with 23/20 odds. But to my surprise, Kosovo is favored to finish second over the Faroe Islands.
Kosovo currently has 27/20 odds while the Faroes have 23/4 odds and Malta has 21/2 odds.
Initially I was surprised, but it makes sense because Kosovo has plenty of players that play in better quality leagues than the members of the Faroe Islands national team.
Defender Amir Rrahmani plays for Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb, midfielder Milot Rashica currently plies his trade for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, and striker Atdhe Nuhiu has been playing for English club Sheffield Wednesday since 2013.
We are seeing Kosovo become stronger due to the influx of many of its players switching allegiance from previous nations to become members of the Kosovo national football team.
I still see Azerbaijan as the favorites to win this group and Kosovo has what it takes to top this group, but I will be pulling for the Faroe Islands!
