Somehow she had made it safely to the President’s Mansion. She didn’t know how, she just knew that she had managed to get here in one piece which was an achievement. Since her arrival she had seen many people come and go, and now the remaining Victors were all brought here. One looking particularly lost, the Victor from Four. Having witnessed everything, she took a deep breath and decided to speak to the young woman, to try and answer any questions she might have.

“Annie, right?” she asked with a faint smile, “I assume you’ve heard, and I’m so very sorry. I’m sure you’re looking for answers and if I can give you any then I will definitely do so.”

Ellen gives her sister a look. “Yes Annie I have, I don’t know, I just feel queasy is all. Do you have any of that nausea medicine still?”

“I might have some, but I haven’t needed it in a while so I don’t know where it’ll be.” She explained, “And don’t give me that look, you’re always getting sick so I have a right to advise and question.”

“No… I just have to wash baby bottles… they only have plastic ones here…” She frowns. “D-do you think those need to be hand washed? We’ve only ever used the g-glass ones…”

Annie sets the six plastic baby bottles on the counter and looks at the dishwasher nervously. “Th-they won’t melt will they?”

“They shouldn’t,” he answered kindly, shaking his head. He couldn’t help feeling some amount of sympathy for Annie Cresta, who had been through more than any person should ever should have to deal with. There wasn't a person in the world who would've been able to escape unscathed. “They’re usually made to be safe to go through the dishwasher. I think they’ll be fine.”

"P-promise?" Eleanor bit her lip and hugged Annie. "They said the same thing about Victor’s village but then they came and took us away to this place." 

"I promise." Annie tried her best to sound convincing, but for some reason she just couldn't. How could she make a promise if she wasn't all that sure herself? "Alright, I can't promise you that we will be fine, but I can promise you that I will do all I can to make sure you don't get hurt."

"I really don't want to deal with you right now." She was already struggling on her own, she didn't need the daily reminder of what the Capitol had done to her, and the other captured Victors. Although of all of them, Annie might as well have been a guest in the Capitol.

"You do have some influence Annie… you have friends who have even more. If we fight for them we can get them back.” She whispered, she rubbed her stomach and it jerked a bit as her baby kicked. “I know you’re capable of taking care of them, you always were. I never believed Mom when she told me those things about me being the oldest. I never believed the capitol either - they made us take a reintegration course, all families after your games had to take it, I never believed anything. I always knew that you as my sister would go through thick and thin for any one of us, and I know you’ll do it now. I will too.” 

"Alex and I won’t let that happen. He’s your son he belongs with his mother." She reached out to squeeze her sister’s hand. "The one good thing we had during the capitol is the one thing I wish the rebellion hadn’t taken away, this district’s sense of family. If anyone had dreamed of taking Theo away 10 years ago the entire District would be up in arms. THe one thing we always had was family, they could never take that away, now it seems that they can." 

“I had friends who had influence.” Annie commented, “But those so called friends haven’t bothered to call in what feels like years, and it very well could be. I don’t have much influence, I have a reputation that everyone knows and everyone believes.” She didn’t want to be useless, she needed to help, but there was nothing more she could do. They wouldn’t allow her to care for her siblings. “You are probably one of the only people in Panem who believes that now. The only other people who did are dead.” Ellen was right, Annie would do anything she could for her family, but she just couldn’t do much. Her life had thrown things her way and those things left scars that couldn’t be seen, and it was damaging.

Her emotions were running high and she couldn’t help crying at the thought of not having Theo so she was very appreciating of her sister’s gesture. “They have always been able to take children from parents who aren’t fit; I’m one of those parents. They think I’m unstable, and I don’t know how I can prove them wrong. I can’t control this; I can’t find a way to deal with it without Finnick. I need to prove them wrong, but it is never going to happen.”

"I'm pregnant." Ellen whispered.

"Y-you’re…? Are you serious?" Annie paused, "Congratulations!"
