I’m at a loss for words to be honest. Pretty Boy Detective Club - lemme repeat that title; Pretty Boy Detective Club - episode 1 is already like, my favourite anime this year, or some hyperbolic-but-not-really description like that. It held my attention with every shot, every line of dialogue, every sound queue - everything. These characters feel so larger than life on purpose and then they challenge that notion themselves really early on so I’m just already fucking fascinated by seeing these personalities and shit, they’re very self referential and aware without feeling like it’s all they have going for them - everyone’s really smart and talkative and full of interesting shit to say and I just adored watching every second of it. Would have to tank pretty hard to not at least make top 5 by year’s end.
