2 new light comedy dramas to pass the time.
This week I checked out two new korean dramas. I didn’t know what to expect of either of them and both to tell you the truth are just ok. I would recomend them if you want something light and you’re not feeling too fussy quality-wise.
I decided to check out this drama because I kind of became a fan of Jung Ryeo Won after watching Witch’s Court last year. The story is about two people that are set to get married with different people and happen to meet. After a series of misfortunes they both end up free and their paths are set to cross once more. Junho plays a sous chef who is eagerly waiting to become head chef of a famous chinese restaurant but is set up by the CEO and ends up with a grudge against his former restaurant. He decides to borrow money from a gangster turned restaurant owner (Jang Hyuk) to take his revenge.
I found Ryeo Won and Jang Hyuk’s characters goofy and funny. The storyline feels all over the place but maybe that’s just because it was the beginning of the drama and it’s a 20 episodes drama. About Junho I’m not really feeling his character fits him but I am willing to have some patience since he did well in his last drama. The first OST is by Jeong Sewoon I’m loving it by the way.
The ones that have followed me for a bit know I’m an EXO-L so it should be no surprise I’ve been waiting for this drama ever since it was announced. The moment I heard Suho was the lead actor of the remake of this drama. I was both excited and scared about how that was gonna go. Rich Man, Poor Woman was one of the first japanese dramas I watched and I loved it. The story is about a young CEO that can’t recognize faces and is eccentric, and even arrogant but also a genius. He is looking for a woman and one day a girl with the same name shows up as a job applicant. He finds her unworthy of being her employee but hires her to get a contract and he just can’t seem to stay away from her.
The korean remake does feel like the japanese drama even if they changed a lot of things. Some comedy scenes feel a bit out of place though. They don't seem to fit the characters. I think the writers had to add a bunch of extra stuff to make up for the fact this will be 16 episodes while the japanese drama is only 11.
There was a reason why I was nervous about Suho getting to play this lead role and that is the character is just so different from him. Suho‘s fans know he can be goofy but he is definitely not the free spirited kind so he is really stepping out of his comfort zone with this character. I think if you don’t know him you won’t really notice that much and he is doing okay overall but he’s not quite there yet. If you are a fan I would definitely suggest to watch this drama. Unlike other acting roles he has done, in this one you do get a lot of him. Plus you get to see him being a brat and it’s really worth watching. I fangirled a lot in the first episode but got over it by the second and was able to watch him as a character.
