8, 9, 12 for the WIP ask game

8: What is your biggest challenge?

well, it’s kinda the same answer as this one i have a hard time believing my writing is worth anything, that i’m truly an artist and writer. that it’s worth all this time and energy and the health of my hands. as far as the writing: Collin is a very fickle character, the book is written as if he is looking back on his life and often he is too harsh on himself and often the balance between telling the story and ranting from “his thoughts” is difficult--sure, they’re funny, but not the point 

9: How would you describe your writing style?

this book is very frank, abrupt, animated, even ghoulish, and i would have to say that it is again boasting myself quite dark and melancholic at times, a sort of deep voice or worry and wisdom, uncertain, yet unyielding 

12: Which character do you have the least in common with?

Jenny. out of the main side characters. or Davie. i just.........can’t relate to them much lmfao

13: Your characters are stranded on a deserted island. What happens?

LMFAO  Collin probably starts crying and continues to cry as he spells “HELP” in coconut shells, Tengfei builds a fucking house from seemingly nothing, Maddy decides he’s done for and “returns to the jungle”, Mikki builds a boat but only for herself, Flora goes between Maddy and Tengfei to get the best of both worlds, and Benny is the one that caused them to be stranded in the first place so he’s just chilling on the beach with a bottle of rum. Simian and Jenny are the only ones keeping them all from killing each other.

16: What would your characters be for Halloween?

mobsters and pirates. maybe dress up as “royalty” the lot of them. all of them. only to make fun of themselves and everyone around them.

Young man attempts to get vengeance and fucks shit up while getting fucked up

I met God and they were an unapologetic dickhead. 

3: Does your WIP have a title? If so, explain its significance. If not, what are you calling it for now?

UH no. not really, i’ve been calling it “118 Days” because that’s the span of time that the first book takes place in, but considering that it’s a series of books it doesn’t make much sense to only have the first be like that..........trying to find something else. the last book is called The Good Samaritan so i’ve been trying to hook that into each book to that, but whatever. the significance in The Good Samaritan being that it truly is who and what Collin is 

4: Describe the setting of your WIP.

OH!! difficult one because the city its set in is purposefully meant to be cloaked. it’s set in a city, both above and underground, an urban area of the mid-1950′s. Dark nights, glow of street lamps, round headlights, moonlight streaming through clouds, the sound of the ocean in the distance, salt in the air along with the smell of pollution and mist from the nearby forest

It’s surprising how little you care about anything, how silent a loud mind can be, when a knife is pressed against your throat. 

this is the second appearance of the word “knife”. the context is actually that collin is being attacked in an alleyway. just you know, opening a chapter straight outta nowhere lmfao

“No better than the Martian, are you?” He grumbled as he stood up and pulled a knife from his trouser pocket. i can’t believe this is the first appearance of “knife” the context of this sentence actually is layered. it’s being spoken by the first real side character of the story, soon after the mc has been kidnapped and he is referring to another character that becomes important later as he is taking out a knife to cut collin’s (the mc’s) restraints. (he’s partially making a joke here because collin didn’t laugh at the joke he told before this statement lmfao)

I still remember that day as vividly as I lived it; likely because I still dream of it, relive each and every detail.

this is actually in the prologue!!! very beginning of the book, when the reader is first introduced to collin and his thinking. he is starting off his own life story with the very sentence before describing the day his brother died oops
