insanlara kendinizi anlatmayı bıraktığınızda yaşamaya başlarsınız ve onlardan ne kadar uzaksanız yaşama da o kadar yakınsınız..
Magia Record episode 2 was delightful! The visual praise I had last episode applies here too, once again I’d call it better than Madoka’s 2nd episode. Likewise with music, no new tracks I noticed this time that weren’t also in the last episode. Well, aside from of course the ED, for which ClariS gives us a really great song as always and the visuals are fucking god tier, Yachiyo you so pretty girl. We’re already at the point of the plot where characters are showing up whose names I hadn’t bothered to learn from MagiReco proper due to me playing in Japanese and so not being able to read them and skipping cutscenes and the like. Specifically we get Kaede, Rena and Momoko, though there’s also a Ren tease with Rena transforming into her, which I didn’t know she could do but that is her magic so. I was already familiar with the fact that they’re a trio, and I think with that being their dynamic it was a good idea to introduce the 3 of them at once, because as of right now they don’t seem to have too much going on individually, and I don’t know how likely it is that personal stories from the game’ll be dived into either. So trio’s just a good way to do it. And the trio dynamic seems to be like a mom and her two kids that always get into fights with each other, and then one kid takes it too far. In this case, Rena fucking with the rumours. Now like I said, I play JP, skip cutscenes, and don’t read translations, so this is all basically new territory for me, but I know at the least that rumours in Kamihama are a bit more, physical, than what their name implies, so hey that’s something. I can speculate that Ui’s disappearance has something to do with a rumour, maybe even this friendship ending staircase one, though if it is that I have to wonder who it is that caused Ui to disappear? Apparently those 2 cour claims were unsourced and I don’t know if we have any confirmation for length but I hope all these things have room to breath. Speaking of which, I appreciate that Mitama wasn’t introduced this episode - they introduce her place and her role, but she herself doesn’t show up, instead it’s about Iroha’s search for her sister with that trio. Good to space out magical girl introductions, don’t wanna fall into the typical gatcha trap of every scoutable waifu being introduced ASAP to show potential whales what they can uh, whale for. Also I didn’t mention it last time but I appreciate that Iroha has a solidly defined goal at this point and is proactive in achieving it - I love Madoka Kaname obviously and I’ll defend her actions and inaction as the protagonist to my last breath, but Iroha’s a good change of pace from her in that sense, also already dispels the idea that Iroha is just Madoka 2.0. And then like 2 other things I want to mention are that Kuroe doesn’t appear this episode at all, which, based on Iroha only really working on a personal quest this episode, sort of supports Kuroe’s seemingly pure business relationship with Iroha, that the pair aren’t working together for this. Curious to see what Kuroe’ll be for though, adding a new girl just for the anime to what’s already a somewhat bloated gacha game cast is a curious decision so, yeah. I know the Wings of Magius are like “villains” in the story and Kuroe’s design is edgy and scary so maybe she’ll join them, who knows. Also Kaede’s fucking, adorable, that’s my other thing, her like grabbing Iroha’s hand and running away from the witch with her (I recognise like all of these witches from playing MagiReco but likewise I don’t know their names) is top tier adorable.
I think that’s it, great episode, still loving this show.
